چکیده

Mesh adaptation for immersed solid is one of the most challenging topics in computational mechanics. In this contribution, we propose a novel anisotropic adaptive body-fitted mesh method particular Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) where boundary layers and high gradient solution at fluid–solid interface play major role. Anisotropic Adaptive Meshes for Brittle Fractures: Parameter Sensitivity

We deal with the Ambrosio-Tortorelli approximation of the well-known Mumford-Shah functional to model quasi-static crack propagation in brittle materials. We employ anisotropic mesh adaptation to efficiently capture the crack path. Aim of this work is to investigate the numerical sensitivity of the crack behavior to the parameters involved in both the physical model and in the adaptive procedure.

Adaptive Time-Dependent CFD on Distributed Unstructured Meshes

Two recent trends in software for CFD problems are the use of unstructured adaptive meshes and the need to implement the software on distributed memory parallel computers. The subject of this paper is the implementation of one particular code of this type for the solution of time-dependent compressible Euler and Navier Stokes problems. The software described here uses the method of lines with t...

Exponentially-fitted methods on layer-adapted meshes

In this paper, a new derivation of a uniformly-convergent, second-order method for singularly-perturbed, linear ordinary differential equations based on the freezing of the coefficients of the differential equation, and integration of the resulting equations subject to continuity and smoothness conditions at the nodes, is presented. The derivation presented here is compared with others based on...

Anisotropic mesh adaptation for CFD computations

Unstructured mesh adaptation is now widely used in numerical simulations to improve the accuracy of the solutions as well as to capture the behavior of physical phenomena. In this paper, we propose a general purpose error estimate based on the interpolation error that produces an anisotropic metric map used to govern the mesh element creation. Application examples of CFD computations are given ...

Parallel Dynamic Load-Balancing for the Solution of Transient CFD Problems Using Adaptive Tetrahedral Meshes

This paper considers a new parallel dynamic load-balancing algorithm which has been developed for use in conjunction with an unstructured tetrahedral parallel adaptive solver for transient ow problems. A brief description of the 3-d adaptivity algorithm is then followed by a discussion of the load-balancing problem. The practical load-balancing algorithm is then explained, followed by a discuss...
